Due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases we have closed our B&B online booking system until the end of the year. However, if you would still like to come and stay please get in touch via email or give us a ring on 01947 881156 and we can assess the situation at that time. Things are changing so quickly, the main thing is for us all to stay safe.
We reopened on 17th July following considerable effort to put in place measures in accordance with the latest Government guidance on managing Covid-19. Our formal statement can be found at the end of this news item and is to be read as being part of our Booking Terms and Conditions.
Visitor safety, comfort and peace-of-mind have been paramount since we re-opened. We have always prided ourselves on the cleanliness of our accommodation, and this is acknowledged in comments by our guests on TripAdvisor. The phrase "spotlessly clean" and similar ones frequently crop up in reviews, and we would assure our guests that the same level of cleanliness can be found behind the scenes. Our last public health inspection found "the premises exceptionally clean and managed to a high standard". Rooms are deep-cleaned and left vacant for a period between visitors, and when occupied are serviced daily with particular attention to showers/toilets. Hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial handwash are provided for guests as well as the usual toiletries. We ensure social distancing between ourselves and guests, particularly when serving breakfasts. Furthermore, as guests who have stayed with us before will know, visitors have their own entrance and staircase without having to share with us. Finally, we have decided to let only any one of our rooms at any one time - when a booking is received we will remove availabilty for the other two rooms , the only exception being for a family/same household booking that requires more than one room. This ensures that social distancing can be maintained whilst you enjoy your breakfast or use the sitting area. As one couple said when being our sole occupants "no one else there so felt like our own special place".
We enjoy what another guest called "a peaceful location to get away from it all", and with immediate access to open countryside and little-used public footpaths when you step outdoors social distancing is not a problem for our guests! We also enjoy the best coastal views imaginable, particularly from Room 3 and the garden that guests are welcome to enjoy. (See photographs on this website). If you decide to venture out other than on foot, although we are secluded we are not isolated, and we are within 10 minutes' drive of Whitby and only 5 minutes from Robin Hood's Bay itself. In addition we have the whole of the North York Moors coast and countryside on our doorstep.
We appreciate that guests booking with us will have some reservations about booking while the future retains so many uncertainties with regard to travel and health. To help ease financial concerns we will ensure that if it is necessary to cancel your booking because of Covid-19 the balance of your accommodation fee will not be collected, and the £50 deposit collected at the time of booking which is 'non-refundable' under our terms and conditions will in fact be returned or carried forward for a booking at a future date, depending on your preference.
Skerry Hall Farm B&B is doing everything possible to protect guests and the proprietors from Covid-19, and to this end a cleaning schedule and risk assessment have been completed and can be shared with guests if they wish.
It is the responsibility of guests not to visit if showing signs of Covid-19 or undergoing isolation after contact with a Covid-19 sufferer. As Skerry Hall Farm is a traditional B&B in a private residential property guests will not be accepted from areas where lockdown restrictions are in force at the time of their intended visit.
Any guest developing Covid-19 symptoms whilst staying here must immediately notify the proprietors, isolate within their room, order a Covid-19 test and return home as soon as possible.
