Half-way Through the Year

02/06/2019

caterpillarAlmost half-way through another year, it’s hard to believe. We have a busy spell over the next week or two, but plenty of vacancies in July and August before we close in September for the remainder of the year for health reasons. If you are thinking of booking a break with us, now is the time to book!

The countryside is particularly beautiful at the moment, and quite a few of our guests have had an enjoyable walk down to Robin Hood’s Bay following ancient footpaths, green lanes and stone trods – assisted by the notes and map that we provide to help guide them on their way.

If you prefer to walk over the moors that adjoin our fields you can explore thousands of acres of access land with superb views, ancient features including standing stones, tumuli and trackways, and enjoy the fascinating flora and fauna of this area. The caterpillar in the photograph was crossing the path over the moor early one morning last week – not something you see every day – whilst above us the curlews uttered their eerie cries. Magical!

If you prefer more tame landscapes you can do no better than to sit in our beautiful garden and soak up the view across the Bay to Ravenscar and see it in the changing light. Locally we have good pubs and restaurants, as well as the delights of Robin Hood’s Bay itself.

All that, and we are only ten minutes’ drive away from Whitby and the full range of its attractions. It’s impossible to think of anywhere better to stay.
