After the abnormally warm February, March has also seen us enjoying some beautiful Spring weather with temperatures at or above the average for the time of year. This has conspired to bring Spring forward, and we have a superb show of daffodils not only in the garden but alongside the drive. There are also masses of wild primroses in bloom and the first of the native violets on the banks.
We were surprised, but delighted, to see that we were listed in the Yorkshire Post today as one of the best three places to stay close to the 'Cinder Track' between Whitby and Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast.
The long days are slowly leaving us as we slip from summer into autumn. Soon the children will be back at school and Robin Hood's Bay will be a little less busy (and Whitby too).
We have enjoyed some glorious weather this past month, and it seems set to continue for a while yet. The lavender in the yard is looking at its best as a result of the Mediterranean climate, and is attracting a host of bees, butterflies and moths, including the hummingbird moth. It is perfect weather to escape to the coast for a couple of nights, or a longer break, and enjoy the delights of Robin Hood's Bay and its surroundings. Guests are always welcome to sit in our garden to enjoy the spectacular view, and if they don't want to drive there are beautiful walks down to the Bay and over the moors above us, where the heather is just starting to come into bloom.
